We work back from the board with test instruments to identify the faulty circuit, then the faulty section of that circuit.

Quote the repair before we do it
Once the cause is confirmed you get the repair price upfront. If the honest answer is that a larger fix is the better value, we say so and explain both options.

Repair, retest and hand back
We complete the repair, retest the circuit and RCD operation, and confirm the fault is genuinely cleared before we leave.

Why does my safety switch keep tripping?▼
An RCD trips when it detects current leaking to earth. That can be a single faulty appliance, moisture in an outdoor circuit, damaged cable, or the combined small leakage of several ageing circuits adding up past the trip threshold. Testing tells you which of those it is; resetting it repeatedly only hides it.
One room has no power but the rest of the house is fine. What causes that?▼
Usually a tripped circuit, a failed connection at a point on that circuit, or a damaged cable. Because the circuit is dead rather than tripping, it often points at a loose or burnt termination, which is worth fixing quickly.
Is it safe to keep using the power until you arrive?▼
If you can smell burning, see scorching, feel heat on a switch or outlet, or have felt a tingle from anything metal, switch that circuit off at the board and call us straight away. Anything else can usually wait for a booked visit.
Do you charge to find the fault as well as fix it?▼
Diagnosis and repair are quoted upfront so you know the cost before work starts. We do not start a repair without your agreement on the price.
