What counts as an electrical emergency?▼
Anything with a shock or fire risk: burning smells, smoke, scorching, arcing, shocks from taps or appliances, damaged service wires, or water in a switchboard. A single dead power point in a spare room usually does not need an after-hours callout.
The whole street is out. Should I still call you?▼
If your neighbours are also without power it is almost certainly a network outage, and the distributor is the right first call. If your home is the only one out, the fault is likely inside your installation and we can attend.
What should I do before you arrive?▼
Switch off the affected circuit at the switchboard if it is safe to reach, unplug appliances on that circuit, keep everyone away from any damaged fitting or wire, and never touch a fallen service line.
