What’s included — EV charger installation
A wall charger makes everyday charging simpler, but the right starting point is your house supply, not the biggest number on a charger box. We look at your vehicle, how far you drive, where you park and what else runs at home. A modest charging rate overnight may cover your daily travel without an unnecessary supply upgrade. The aim is a reliable setup you can use comfortably, with the electrical limits understood before you spend money.
Supply assessment
Check the board, earthing and household demand before deciding the charging capacity.
Dedicated charging circuit
Plan the cable size, route and circuit protection for the charger and parking position.
Charger positioning
Locate the unit so the charging cable reaches comfortably without blocking doors or walkways.
Protection and testing
Check the required RCD and DC leakage arrangements and test the completed electrical work.
Commissioning and handover
Set up supported charging controls and explain normal operation and safe isolation.
We inspect the switchboard, earthing and available capacity, then plan a dedicated charging circuit and a practical cable route to the parking space. Charger selection needs to account for the vehicle’s AC charging limit, single-phase or three-phase supply and the manufacturer’s installation instructions. We check the required RCD protection and DC residual-current protection arrangement rather than assuming a normal power point or existing safety switch is suitable. Load management can reduce charging when other appliances are drawing heavily, where compatible equipment supports it.
Signs you need this — EV charger installation
- You have ordered an EV and need a permanent home charging point.
- Charging from a portable unit no longer covers your daily driving.
- Your garage power point gets hot or the circuit trips while charging.
- You want to charge without overloading other household circuits.
- You need a clear electrical plan before approaching strata.
Many homes were wired before electric vehicles were part of family life. Cooking, air conditioning and hot water can already use a substantial share of the available supply. A garage at the far end of the property may need a longer cable run, while an apartment can involve common property, strata permission and an agreed billing arrangement. An extension lead through a doorway is not a permanent charging solution. Tell us about the parking space and whether it belongs solely to your home so we can identify the approvals and practical constraints.
Upfront pricing for ev charger installation
Upfront pricing — quoted on site before any work starts.
Your quote reflects access, the existing installation, equipment and any necessary supply coordination. We explain the agreed scope before you decide. Optional work is discussed separately.
What happens on the day
On the day we confirm the charger position, cable route and agreed scope before isolating the relevant circuits. We install suitable wiring and protection, mount the charger to the manufacturer’s requirements and test the completed installation. Where commissioning includes an app or network connection, have your login and Wi-Fi details available. We explain charging settings and any load-management limits, and show you how to isolate the equipment. If the supply needs Level 2 work, we explain that separately before proceeding; not every EV charger installation needs a supply upgrade.

EV charger installation — frequently asked questions
Do I need three-phase power for an EV charger?⌄
Not necessarily. Many households can charge effectively on single-phase power overnight. The vehicle’s AC limit, daily driving and existing demand matter more than the maximum charger rating. We assess the supply before recommending three-phase work, so you do not pay for capacity your car or routine cannot use.
Can I use my existing garage power point?⌄
A portable charger may be permitted by its manufacturer on a suitable outlet, but that does not establish that your existing circuit is safe for sustained charging. We check the outlet, wiring and protection. Do not use extension leads or keep using an outlet that is hot, damaged or discoloured.
Can you install a charger I have bought?⌄
We can assess a customer-supplied charger and its installation requirements before accepting the job. Send us the model and installation information. We need to confirm it suits the Australian supply, the vehicle and the available protection. Electrical installation labour and the manufacturer’s equipment warranty are different things.
Will load management avoid a mains upgrade?⌄
Compatible load management can keep charging within a configured household limit by reducing the charger’s output when demand rises. It is not a repair for damaged wiring or an unsuitable switchboard. We assess the actual supply and equipment compatibility before saying whether it is a practical option for your home.
Can you install an EV charger in an apartment?⌄
Often there is a workable option, but strata consent, cable access, common-property supply and metering arrangements need to be settled first. We can assess the electrical route and explain the proposed scope. Do not assume your allocated parking bay automatically gives permission to alter shared electrical infrastructure.
Areas we service for ev charger installation
EV charger installation in Sutherland Shire
We provide ev charger installation across the Sutherland Shire from our Caringbah base. Brick-veneer and post-war homes can combine original electrical infrastructure with years of additions, so we check the existing arrangement before deciding what the new work needs. Access through a roof space, garage or underfloor area can change the practical scope. Tell us about previous renovations and any inspection findings when booking. We plan the agreed work around the actual property rather than assuming every Shire home has the same wiring or supply.

EV charger installation in St George
Our Caringbah-based team has set service days across St George for ev charger installation, with 24/7 emergency cover when an electrical fault needs urgent attention. The area’s brick-veneer and post-war homes may have older boards, limited access or later extensions that need to be considered alongside the requested job. We discuss circuit condition, supply capacity and the route for any new equipment on site. A booking request lets us review access and the proposed scope before confirming a suitable visit; it is not an automatic appointment confirmation.

EV charger installation in Eastern Suburbs
We also provide ev charger installation on set service days across the Eastern Suburbs, with 24/7 emergency cover. The area’s 1920s–60s housing stock can include overhead mains and original switchboards alongside modern renovations. Those features make a site assessment worthwhile before adding equipment or altering the supply. We check what is present at your property rather than assuming its age means it needs a full replacement. Masonry construction, constrained access and coastal exposure may influence the installation plan, and we explain any necessary preparation before work starts.
