What’s included — Outdoor and garden lighting
Good outdoor lighting begins with how you move around the property. An entry step needs clear visibility, a garden bed may need a soft accent, and a driveway should not shine directly into a bedroom window. We plan positions and controls around the actual site rather than filling every corner with the brightest fitting available. The electrical installation needs suitable protection from weather and damage, with access for maintenance and a cable route that works around paving, plants and existing services.
Lighting plan
Identify entries, steps, paths and garden features that need practical light.
Weather-rated equipment
Select fittings and connection arrangements for the real exposure at each location.
Cable route assessment
Plan wiring around paving, irrigation, vegetation and existing underground services.
Sensors and switching
Set controls to suit daily use and reduce unnecessary switching or glare.
Testing and adjustments
Check the finished installation and adjust aim and controls with you.
We assess existing outdoor circuits, switching positions and the routes between fittings. The choice may include fixed wall lights, garden spots, path lighting and sensor-controlled security lights. Fittings, drivers, transformers and junctions need appropriate ratings for their actual exposure; a covered porch is not the same environment as a fitting in an irrigated garden bed. Where cables need to go underground, we plan the route and discuss excavation, reinstatement and service locations before the job is approved.
Signs you need this — Outdoor and garden lighting
- Steps or paths become difficult to see after dark.
- Outdoor lights trip a circuit after rain.
- Old fittings are rusted, cracked or full of moisture.
- Security lights shine into windows or keep switching unnecessarily.
- A new deck, garden or driveway needs a coordinated lighting plan.
Older outdoor fittings can admit moisture, corrode or deteriorate in sunlight and coastal conditions. A sensor facing moving branches may switch unnecessarily; a badly positioned spotlight can leave steps in shadow while creating glare elsewhere. Renovations often change how a yard is used without changing the lighting. We also see indoor-rated equipment installed where it is exposed to rain. Repeated tripping after wet weather needs investigation, not simply a higher-powered bulb or a taped-up connection.
Upfront pricing for outdoor and garden lighting
Upfront pricing — quoted on site before any work starts.
Your quote reflects access, the existing installation, equipment and any necessary supply coordination. We explain the agreed scope before you decide. Optional work is discussed separately.
What happens on the day
We confirm fitting positions and the agreed cable route with you, then isolate the affected circuit. Installation may involve new mounting points, suitable wiring and weather-rated connection arrangements. We test operation and circuit protection, adjust sensors and timers where fitted, and show you how the controls work. If the plan depends on trenches or landscaping access, those details are agreed beforehand. Tell us about pets, irrigation and garden plans so we can avoid placing lights or cables where they will be damaged later.

Outdoor and garden lighting — frequently asked questions
Can you install lights in garden beds?⌄
Yes, subject to a suitable wiring route and equipment selected for the conditions. Soil, irrigation and maintenance tools all affect the design. We discuss fitting locations, low-voltage equipment where appropriate, and access to drivers and connections. Connections should not be improvised or left exposed simply because the light itself is labelled outdoor-rated.
Do outdoor lights need a weather rating?⌄
They need a rating and installation arrangement suitable for their exposure, following the manufacturer’s instructions. A light under deep cover and one in direct rain may need different treatment. Coastal corrosion and irrigation can also matter. We assess the actual position rather than selecting a fitting solely from its appearance online.
Can sensor lights be adjusted?⌄
Many have adjustable detection, timing or daylight settings, depending on the model. We can check positioning and set them up for the area you want monitored. Sensors directed at roads, branches or reflective surfaces may behave poorly. Adjustment cannot fix unsuitable equipment or an electrical fault, so we assess those separately.
Who handles trenches and paving?⌄
We agree the scope before work starts, including any excavation, service-location checks and reinstatement. Some jobs use existing routes; others need landscaping or paving work coordinated. Tell us about planned garden changes so the cable route is not installed somewhere that will soon be dug up or covered by a new structure.
Why do garden lights trip after rain?⌄
Moisture in a fitting, cable joint or damaged wiring can cause leakage and trip protection. Stop using equipment that appears damaged and arrange an assessment. Repeated resets, tape around exposed joins or disconnecting protection are not repairs. We locate the fault and explain whether repair or replacement is the sensible option.
Areas we service for outdoor and garden lighting
Outdoor and garden lighting in Sutherland Shire
We provide outdoor and garden lighting across the Sutherland Shire from our Caringbah base. Brick-veneer and post-war homes can combine original electrical infrastructure with years of additions, so we check the existing arrangement before deciding what the new work needs. Access through a roof space, garage or underfloor area can change the practical scope. Tell us about previous renovations and any inspection findings when booking. We plan the agreed work around the actual property rather than assuming every Shire home has the same wiring or supply.

Outdoor and garden lighting in St George
Our Caringbah-based team has set service days across St George for outdoor and garden lighting, with 24/7 emergency cover when an electrical fault needs urgent attention. The area’s brick-veneer and post-war homes may have older boards, limited access or later extensions that need to be considered alongside the requested job. We discuss circuit condition, supply capacity and the route for any new equipment on site. A booking request lets us review access and the proposed scope before confirming a suitable visit; it is not an automatic appointment confirmation.
Hurstville · Kogarah · Bexley · Blakehurst · Carlton · Kingsgrove · Ramsgate
Outdoor and garden lighting in Eastern Suburbs
We also provide outdoor and garden lighting on set service days across the Eastern Suburbs, with 24/7 emergency cover. The area’s 1920s–60s housing stock can include overhead mains and original switchboards alongside modern renovations. Those features make a site assessment worthwhile before adding equipment or altering the supply. We check what is present at your property rather than assuming its age means it needs a full replacement. Masonry construction, constrained access and coastal exposure may influence the installation plan, and we explain any necessary preparation before work starts.
