What are consumer mains?▼
They are the cables that carry supply from the network's connection point to your main switchboard. They are your responsibility as the property owner, and they are frequently the limiting factor when a home needs more capacity.
Should I convert my overhead mains to underground?▼
It is worth considering if the overhead run crosses trees or a driveway, if it is in the way of an extension, or if you want it gone visually. It is a bigger job than a like-for-like overhead replacement because of the excavation, so we quote both where either is viable.
Do you do the digging as well?▼
Yes. Trenching, conduit, backfill and surface reinstatement are part of our scope, and we set out what the reinstatement will look like before we start.
Can you run power to a granny flat or studio?▼
Yes, using correctly sized sub-mains and a sub-board at the structure, with protection coordinated back to the main board.
