Temporary Builder’s Supply
Arrange a safe, planned electricity supply for the construction stage, not an improvised extension lead.
$0 call-out fee · Level 2 ASP · Lifetime Labour Guarantee
What’s included — Temporary builder’s supply
A building site needs an electrical supply designed for the work taking place there. Temporary builder’s supply can involve a new or altered service arrangement, a suitable site switchboard, earthing and coordination with the builder, network and metering provider. The best time to plan it is before demolition or major construction changes access to the existing connection. We ask about tools, site layout and the future permanent supply so the temporary arrangement does not create avoidable relocation work later.
Site demand assessment
Discuss the tools, construction stages and temporary board location with the builder.
Connection planning
Identify the available service and network requirements before scheduling work.
Temporary board arrangement
Plan suitable supply, protection, earthing and accessible isolation for the agreed scope.
Metering coordination
Identify the authorised metering-provider steps needed for the connection.
Testing and handover
Complete applicable checks and explain site responsibilities and the permanent transition.
As a Level 2 ASP, we handle everything from the street to your switchboard, no second contractor for the authorised supply-side scope. We assess the available connection, proposed board position, site demand and safe access. Network applications, service work and metering responsibilities need to be identified before a date is promised. Temporary power distribution and equipment on a construction site also need appropriate inspection and testing arrangements; connecting a site board is not a guarantee that every lead and tool subsequently used on site is compliant.
Signs you need this — Temporary builder’s supply
- A demolition will remove the existing meter or switchboard position.
- Your builder needs a temporary electricity connection before starting.
- Construction equipment cannot safely use the old domestic arrangement.
- An overhead connection conflicts with planned site access.
- You need temporary supply removed or changed to the permanent connection.
A knockdown rebuild may remove the old meter location or make the existing service unsafe during demolition. Large tools and changing work areas can put demands on an arrangement never designed for site use. Existing overhead equipment may conflict with machinery access. Long chains of domestic extension leads are not a planned site supply. The builder needs to consider who manages ongoing site electrical safety and how the temporary connection will transition to the finished building’s permanent arrangement.
Upfront pricing for temporary builder’s supply
Upfront pricing — quoted on site before any work starts.
Your quote reflects access, the existing installation, equipment and any necessary supply coordination. We explain the agreed scope before you decide. Optional work is discussed separately.
What happens on the day
We confirm the approved scope, site readiness and coordinated appointments before attending. The work may include the agreed service connection, temporary board arrangement and authorised testing and documentation. The board must remain accessible and protected from site activities. We explain how the supply is isolated and what ongoing responsibilities apply to the site. Keep excavation and equipment movements away from the connection route. When construction reaches the permanent-supply stage, that change needs its own agreed electrical and metering plan rather than an informal move by another trade.

Temporary builder’s supply — frequently asked questions
When should I arrange builder’s supply?⌄
Plan it before demolition or construction removes access to the existing electrical arrangement. Approvals, site readiness and metering coordination may affect timing. We assess the scope and explain the steps rather than promising an immediate connection. Early planning helps the builder avoid starting with unsafe or unavailable power.
Can the existing house supply be used?⌄
Possibly, if the arrangement remains suitable, accessible and safe for the planned work. Demolition, tools and changes to the building may make it inappropriate. We assess the actual site and builder’s requirements. A functioning household outlet is not by itself a safe temporary construction-supply plan.
Who looks after tools and extension leads on site?⌄
The site needs appropriate arrangements for inspection, testing and safe use of its electrical equipment. Our agreed connection work does not cover every tool introduced later by different trades. We explain the handover boundaries so the builder can manage ongoing site obligations rather than assuming the connection settles all electrical safety responsibilities.
Do I need a new electricity meter?⌄
That depends on the proposed connection and existing arrangement. The retailer and authorised metering provider may need to be involved. We assess the supply-side work and identify those responsibilities before scheduling. A Level 2 ASP appointment does not automatically include every meter task or guarantee a retailer appointment date.
Can you change it to permanent supply later?⌄
We can assess and quote the permanent arrangement when the building is ready, with the relevant approvals and metering coordination. The final board location, cables and connection conditions must be understood. Include the future plan early so temporary equipment is not installed where it will unnecessarily obstruct the permanent work.
Areas we service for temporary builder’s supply
Temporary builder’s supply in Sutherland Shire
We provide temporary builder’s supply across the Sutherland Shire from our Caringbah base. Brick-veneer and post-war homes can combine original electrical infrastructure with years of additions, so we check the existing arrangement before deciding what the new work needs. Access through a roof space, garage or underfloor area can change the practical scope. Tell us about previous renovations and any inspection findings when booking. We plan the agreed work around the actual property rather than assuming every Shire home has the same wiring or supply.

Temporary builder’s supply in St George
Our Caringbah-based team has set service days across St George for temporary builder’s supply, with 24/7 emergency cover when an electrical fault needs urgent attention. The area’s brick-veneer and post-war homes may have older boards, limited access or later extensions that need to be considered alongside the requested job. We discuss circuit condition, supply capacity and the route for any new equipment on site. A booking request lets us review access and the proposed scope before confirming a suitable visit; it is not an automatic appointment confirmation.

Temporary builder’s supply in Eastern Suburbs
We also provide temporary builder’s supply on set service days across the Eastern Suburbs, with 24/7 emergency cover. The area’s 1920s–60s housing stock can include overhead mains and original switchboards alongside modern renovations. Those features make a site assessment worthwhile before adding equipment or altering the supply. We check what is present at your property rather than assuming its age means it needs a full replacement. Masonry construction, constrained access and coastal exposure may influence the installation plan, and we explain any necessary preparation before work starts.
